Items of infrastructure can be installed by simply positioning upright when pouring concrete, although if infrastructure is not ready, you can install the ground sockets using the installation tool to position upright when pouring concrete, and cap off until infrastructure is ready to install. Socket is installed flush with surface and must be completely encased in concrete. Allow space for paving so socket finishes level with road or footpath. If there is soil beneath pavers we recommend you install a foundation beneath the pavers of at least 300 mm square to provide stability and ensure against dislodgement when an item is impacted. For increased stability you can bell out the base. We do not recommend using 150 mm sockets in paved areas.
Socket is installed flush with surface and must be completely encased in concrete. Core drill hole large enough to fit socket and fill gap with concrete to secure socket to existing foundation. We recommend 150 or 350 mm ground sockets (650 mm is not necessary in solid concrete footpaths or foundations) NB: We also provide a Smart surface mount option for bollards.
When installing items directly in soil. Socket is installed flush with surface and must be completely encased in concrete. We recommend you install a 700 mm deep (minimum 50 mm beneath socket (suggest increasing depth 1m for bollards likely to be impacted by trucks or heavy vehicles at low speed) x 300 – 400 mm square foundation to provide stability and ensure against dislodgement when an item is impacted. If soil is sandy we recommend a 400 mm square and you can bell out the bottom to provide added stability.
